Ballet Met Movement in Music

We were awarded a grant and were lucky enough to use it for a short artist visit from BalletMet!  The kids got to learn about movement as a story and practice their strength, balance and coordination!

Switzerland anyone?!?!

One of our friends incited her aunt to come talk to us!  Her aunt lives in Switzerland and is able to come back to Ohio a few times a year!  She talked to us about famous landmarks in Switzerland like the alps as well as taught us some French words, which they speak in the area she and her family live in.  It is really cool to learn about new places!

Wildlife Preservation

During our Wildlife Preservation talk we learned about the different animals in and around central Ohio who are in need of rescue and help!  We learned that nature is super important to us and how each animal helps the rest of the "animal" population survive and be comfortable.  Thank you spiders and bats for getting rid of those pesky bugs and thank you owls for taking care of those mice that think our houses are cozy!

Last Library Day!

One of the cutest books I have read in a long time!  We wanted to go to the library even though our normal library days at the k-1 have come to an end!  We read the book, Hug Machine, then practiced giving out hugs for our morning greeting! We also discussed when it is and is not appropriate to hug someone and how to properly give a hug by askin first... And never at learning time!  We are quite the friendly class so making sure they know the when's and when nots is going to be great for learning and for personal space practice.  But like I said, it was an adorable book and honestly, who doesn't like a hug!

We worked in a book extension and connection by thinking of things we would like to hug!

We even went ahead and hugged some stuff!

Then we got out or library free choices and took a last turn!

Marshmallow Day

It's raining marshmallows!!!  Today we had a marshmallow of a fun time.  We have done so much testing in the past 2 weeks that it was time for a bit of fun to start off our week!  So our morning meeting activity included marshmallow toss and a marshmallow fight!  They totally do my hurt when you get hit!  Ha ha, I am speaking from experience... I think I was a high profile target in this game!
